Language Link

At More Park, we recognise that strong language and communication skills are essential for learning, building relationships and developing confidence. As part of our graduated approach to SEND support, we use LanguageLink to help us identify children who may benefit from additional support with their language development.

All children are screened using LanguageLink during their Reception year. This allows us to identify any language or communication needs at an early stage and put appropriate interventions and support in place where needed.

As children move into Key Stage 2, all pupils are once again screened again at the beginning of Year 3. This helps us to identify any ongoing or emerging needs and ensure that children continue to receive the right support to access learning and achieve their full potential. Where LanguageLink identifies an area of need, targeted interventions are delivered by trained staff and progress is carefully monitored. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure that support is tailored to each child's individual needs.

By using LanguageLink at key points throughout a child's school journey, we can provide early intervention, monitor progress effectively and help every child develop the communication skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond.

Parents and carers can also access a range of helpful information, advice and activities through the LanguageLink Parent Portal. The portal provides practical resources to support speech, language and communication development at home, helping families to work alongside school in supporting their child's progress. We encourage parents to explore the available resources and speak to the school if they would like any further guidance or support.
