Here at More Park School, supporting mental health and well-being is at the forefront of our agenda. We recognise the huge significance of emotional well-being on overall development and readiness to learn, and are passionate about providing the right support for your child.
For any worry your child may have that they wish to share. Positioned on the board outside the year 3 classroom, children write their name and year on a slip of paper and Miss Cole, or another chosen adult, will speak to the child at a convenient time.
If your child experiences the loss of somebody close to then, they are invited to decorate a pebble in their memory to place in our dedicated space behind the castle on the playground. This is a place for peace, prayer and reflection.
We also offer extended bereavement support upon request and refer to the local bereavement charities, Slideaway or Holding on Letting go, when the need arises.
Miss Cole is able to provide a range of sessions according to your child's needs. From weekly play therapy, ELSA, drawing and talking and unstructured drop in sessions, we can tailor sessions to meet the needs of your child. We offer support for a wide range of social, emotional or behavioural concerns. Please speak to your child's class teacher or book an appointment with Miss Cole via the school office for a friendly chat.
Where appropriate, we make referrals and co-ordinate support from other services including Kent Young carers, Kent school nurse service, CAMHs and the Kent Early Help team.
Miss Cole is a trained play therapist and our welfare lead. She works closely with Mrs Symington, our Inclusion manager, and Mr Fox and Mrs Seal as part of our safeguarding team.
